Olly Murs – Please Don’t Let Me Go

He was pipped to the X Factor title by Geordie Joe – remember him? – but that hasn’t stopped Essex boy Olly Murs pursuing his pop career and now nearly 8 months on he’s releasing his debut single Please Don’t Let Me Go. All the requisite Olly markers are present and correct – Trilby hat, shimmying hips and over-excitable hand gestures – but the Wickham lad also shines throughout the video as the song lollops along, radiating a summer reggae vibe. We were worried Olly would be shoehorned into a Beatles number and end up waggling his knees wildly, but so far, he’s managed to steer clear…

Says Olly: “I’m so excited to be releasing this track which I co-wrote with Steve Robson and Claude Kelly. It was important to me to be releasing an original song, and you can blast this one in the car with the windows down and the sun shining”.

Olly is currently working on his debut album due for release later this year, collaborating with writers who’ve scored hits for Take That, Robbie, JLS and Westlife, so we reckon he’s in good hands. Saying that, Roy Stride from Scouting For Girls is involved too. Be afraid…
