New Book Reading From GFest

Broadcast live streaming video on Ustream
If you missed it, I did my third book reading last week at London’s Bar Titania as part of GFest 2014. The reading is an excerpt from my short story Once Upon A Caravan, taken from the upcoming UK lesfic anthology L Is For…, which will be out very soon. It was a fabulous evening, with authors and readers coming together to celebrate UK lesfic. Hope you enjoy!

Vote For London Calling in the Rainbow Awards!

london-calling-clare-lydon

My first novel, London Calling, is up for Cover of the Year in the annual Rainbow Awards which is ace. The numbers have been whittled down from loads to just 15 covers and it’s open to a public vote until November 29th to decide the winner. The rules are simple – you have to vote for at least three covers and provide your email address. That’s it. A vote for London Calling would be much appreciated. Thanks!

New Book Alert! Introducing The Long Weekend

TheLongWeekend

The wait is almost over. Yes, nine months after my debut novel London Calling hit the shelves, it’s now almost time to launch my second book, The Long Weekend. It’s been an amazing nine months where in between organising and getting married, I managed to squeeze in writing this book. Now, after a long gestation period, The Long Weekend is being prepared to be pushed into the world and I’m the original proud parent – tired, sleep-deprived but cock-a-hoop with excitement… Continue reading » “New Book Alert! Social Media Week & Authors

smw

“I’m vibrating 24/7 and I hate it.” So said a panellist at Tuesday morning’s Social Media Week session on content overload, and he wasn’t even trying to be funny. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Flckr, YouTube – the list goes on. Yet if you want to be present in today’s world, you have to be present on social media – and this is especially true for self-published authors who want to spread the word and engage with their audience. So how can you make social media your best mate? Continue reading » “Social Media Week & Authors”

Ten Truths For Writers

truth-ahead

I’m a writer of romance fiction – but romance that lives in the real-world. When I tell people I write books, they normally adopt a goofy grin and react like I’m living the dream. Which I know I am. But here’s a newsflash – living the dream takes work! Books don’t write themselves, ideas don’t spring out of the air and smoking 20 cigarettes a day does not help your productivity. I know, life sucks. Here are ten other writing truths that aspiring writers should note… Continue reading » “Ten Truths For Writers”

Public Speaking For Authors: Top Ten Tips

public-speaking

I am an introvert with an extrovert streak. My introvert likes to write, read and watch an endless stream of Come Dine With Me. My extrovert loves to socialise and is happiest when given a microphone on a stage and asked to sing – at karaoke, at parties, wherever. In July I did my first book reading at L Fest and then my second two weeks later at Brighton Pride – but I wasn’t sure who would turn up on stage for these public speaking gigs. Would my shy writerly side win the day? Or would I be able to channel my karaoke prowess without actually breaking into a rendition of Teenage Dirtbag by accident? Top Ten Things About LFest 2014

This past weekend saw the third annual LFest come and go, the UK’s only lesbian festival. A mix of arts, culture, music, sports, cinema & workshops, it was bursting with women, wine and song, along with stilt walkers to pole dancers, writers to comedians, ballroom dancers to speed daters. With so much on offer, it was difficult to take it all in – but here are some of my highlights… Continue reading » “Top Ten Things About LFest 2014”
