Thank you so much if you rocked up to last night's Zoom event arranged by the wonderful peeps at Stockport Library. I had a ball, even though my face got pinker as the evening wore on. I had make-up on, too, dammit! If you couldn't make it, you missed me chatting about my characters and settings, as well as my stories, ideas, and how none of my characters will ever listen to Coldplay. Here are some other nuggets I shared:-Yes, I will be doing another collaboration in the future, it's with another well known lesbian writer, but it's all secret secret for now, so watch this lesbian space.-I would love to write a book set in Scotland, it would be amazing to go to the Highlands, or maybe one set in Ireland too - any excuse to travel once this is all over. Right now, I'd settle for one set on the pavement outside my house.-I have had a couple of publishers approach me, but I'm very happy as an independent author and being my own mean boss. -I don't usually map out my books, to start. I tend to write myself into a corner, and *then* plan. Genius! -I find it harder to write a novella than a full novel. I like to write books heavy enough to bruise your big toe.-I still haven't decided who's better: Britney and Christina. -I would like Kristen Stewart to star in a movie of one of my books. And Emma Watson. Thank you please. For more titillating facts about me, head over to my site:: www.clarelydon.co.uk/about/#books #bookstagram ... See MoreSee Less

A fresh episode of our podcast is up folks! This week, we discuss romance vs erotica: what's the difference and which should you write? Oh la laaaa! I'm not quite sure why I go a bit French when discussing erotica, mais je fais. Tune in for TB spending the whole episode coloured purple, us discussing 50 Shades Of Grey and both of us agreeing that writing erotica well ain't easy. Kudos to all the erotica writers! We both prefer writing romance with a splash of sex, but at the end of the day, sex sells. So if you fancy giving erotica a try, go for it.All this, plus discussions of our latest projects, the ice age, why I should outline earlier, and TB's cat. If you're a lesfic author, it's a must-listen. If you're a lesfic reader, we might make you laugh. Apparently it's happened at least twice. I read Dykes To Watch Out For throughout the 90s & 00s. It remains my favourite series in print. Love Alison Bechdel! #bechdeltest #dykestowatchoutfor

Openly 🏳️‍🌈@Openly

The “Bechdel Test” first appeared in a comic called “The Rule”, which was published in 1985.

So where did the idea come from?
