It’s the end of another 12 months, and what a year it’s been! 2022 has had its high points, but also its lows. Professionally it’s been grand, putting out my first self-published translation, and getting shortlisted for the Kindle Storyteller Awards. Personally, it’s been a rollercoaster, losing my dad and being ill and in hospital twice. I’m hoping for a smoother personal year in 2023! Thrilled to share that Change Of Heart, my fake relationship romance with a twist, has been announced as a finalist for this year’s Golden Crown Literary Awards. Toot toot! The book joins a fabulous list of contemporaries in the Contemporary Romance: Mid-Length category, including the likes of Radclyffe, Jae, Monica McCallan and Georgia Beers. It’s fabulous to be nominated alongside these wonderful women, and I can’t wait for the awards in July.
The first three months have been quite the trip, haven’t they? The pandemic carries on regardless, society is on the precipe of the next world war, and LGBT+ rights are being decimated around the globe. It’s hard to focus on the day to day, but truly, that’s all we have. I want to keep writing stories to combat the hate and prejudice in the world. After the year that was 2021, I’m putting 2022 on cruise control. I know what I want to get done, but if it doesn’t get done, so be it. I think we could all benefit from a year of ‘whatever!’ In saying that though, I’m still a Virgo who likes order, so goals I shall make. Ready for them? Here goes…
It’s safe to say that 2021 was not the year we all thought it would be. At the start, I had dreams the pandemic would be done and dusted by the summer, and life would return to some form of normality. It didn’t. For me personally, it was also the year that family issues led to me not working as much as I intended. Life happens! However, in a year when many died and even more are still suffering viral after-effects, I consider getting through the past 12 months without getting covid a win.
