2021 Wrap-Up!

It’s safe to say that 2021 was not the year we all thought it would be. At the start, I had dreams the pandemic would be done and dusted by the summer, and life would return to some form of normality. It didn’t. For me personally, it was also the year that family issues led to me not working as much as I intended. Life happens! However, in a year when many died and even more are still suffering viral after-effects, I consider getting through the past 12 months without getting covid a win. Plus, I still managed to get stuff done. If you’re interested to know what, here’s my 2021 wrap-up…

Jae’s Sapphic Reading Challenge: Start Here!

Are you doing Jae’s Sapphic Reading Challenge 2021? If not, maybe you should consider it! There are prizes on offer, as well as the chance to read more widely and be introduced to a ton of new books and authors. Plus, if you join her Facebook group, you could even chat about the books you’ve read with other like-minded readers, too. It’s a triple win!

How does it work? In Jae’s own words: “The goal is to read sapphic books that fit as many of the 50 categories listed as possible. You can read ebooks, paperbacks, or audiobooks; and they can be new-to-you books or re-reads. I’ll post book recommendations for a new category once a week. Of course, you could also just read whatever books you want and then, afterwards, see what categories they fit into. Depending on how many sapphic books you manage to read in 2021, you can earn different badges and book prizes.”

Basically, read books that fit certain tropes, and there are prizes to be had! Plus, you get to call yourself a Book Penguin, a Book Dragon or even a Book Unicorn.

Jae has 50 categories to tick off in her challenge, so I thought I’d list my books and what category they fit in. I’ve got 18 novels, and there are 50 categories. I might miss some matches, but I’m going to do the absolute best I can, and hopefully it might help you to fill your challenge card and puff your reading muscles. Ready? Here goes…

My Goals For 2020: How Did I Do?

So let’s get this out of the way first: 2020. Crikey bananas, what a year. I went into it full of optimism, but after March, things took a decided turn for the worst. But for all the terrible things around the world, business-wise at least, 2020 was my best year yet. I know. I’m not going to dwell on the pandemic, divisive politics and racism: 2020 had them all. This blog entry is going to see how 2020 was for me professionally. Did I hit my goals? Did I publish books? Did I survive? If you want to know the sticky details, read on… Continue reading » “My Goals For 2020: How Did I Do?”

The Lesbian Book Club With Anna Larner

Welcome to episode 50 of the Lesbian Book Club where I interview UK author Anna Larner. We chat about Anna’s brand-new book Love’s Portrait, as well as her debut, the well received Highland Fling. Anna’s debut was a finalist in the GCLS awards, as well as being recommended as a Top Ten Summer Read by AfterEllen. She talks about the craft of writing, the importance of never giving up and why Leicester is the perfect canvas for her stories.

I also do a run-down of the Amazon Lesbian Fiction charts in the US & UK. As usual, I chat about what I’ve been up to, including releasing You’re My Kind, my latest lesbian romance, and writing book six in the London Romance series, out later this year.

If you’d like to see me reading and chatting live, I’ll be appearing at Happy Valley Pride in Hebden Bridge on July 27th. Come along and say hi!

The Lesbian Book Club with Lily Hammond

Welcome to episode 49 of the Lesbian Book Club, where I interview New Zealand author Lily Hammond. Lily writes historical romances set in different times and places, where adventurous women dare to follow their hearts, defying convention in their pursuit of happiness. Her recent books have included The Way Home and Alice & Jean, and her reviews on Amazon are off the charts. Lily lives in Dunedin with her partner Valerie. She also writes as Kate Genet and Ana MacKenzie, so a multi-talented author!

I also do a run-down of the Amazon lesbian fiction charts in the US & UK. I talk about what I’ve been up to, including readying my upcoming lesbian romance You’re My Kind for launch in March. Plus, I’ve also been busy writing the next book in my London Romance series, Made In London, due out in May. In lesfic news, the Diva Literary Festival is happening in March in Birmingham, UK. Go to www.divaliteraryfestival.com for more.

Thanks to Denise at the Lesbian Lounge for hosting and producing this podcast, it’s much appreciated!
