My Debut Novel London Calling Is Here!

Today is what you could definitely call an exciting day. A monumental day. A day I’ve thought about ever since I was a little girl with glitzy dreams. Some little girls dream of becoming a princess, some of meeting their prince, some of playing football, but I dreamt of writing a book. Today, I publish my first book. Yikes!

I’ve written ever since I can remember. As a child, I penned stories; as a teenager I wrote poetry and tales of angst; then at university, I took up drinking wine and smoking fags, thinking that was what made a good writer. Not quite.

This past year has been a journey of self-discovery and creativity, a path into the unknown but I knew it was now or never to fulfil my dreams. When I started back in January 2013, I didn’t know if I had what it took to be a writer. I was an expert at starting things, but not so hot on finishing. But, to the amazement of nobody more than myself, I finished my first novel and then started a second. Then came the process of editing, honing, revising, refining. Repeat. Then repeat again. And then again. Until finally, today arrived.

London Calling is about Jess and her journey from heartbreak to her search for love in modern-day London. It features a glittering cast of ladygays and their mates along with a vat of tequila and no shortage of Converse. Sure, this is a lesbian fiction novel but I hope that a cross-section of people might enjoy it too because at its heart, it’s a love story, a romantic comedy, one woman’s struggle to stop tripping over her feet and walk in a not-so-straight line. I’ve been describing it as Bridget Jones for lesbians; you could also say it’s a healthy slug of lesbian chicklit.

If you read it, I hope you enjoy it. Download it and let me know what you think. It’s available on Amazon right now, and being rolled out over other digital services in the next couple of weeks. The print book will be here in 6-8 weeks.

You’ll find me at the bar having a well-deserved drink. And then next week: back to book two…
